Finland December 2017

"Move over GLC, Finland will mine!...Muahaha!..." - Seems to say the XC60 PHEV...

Mercedes GLC350e was #1, but Volvo XC60 is coming to steal it in '18

Finland has become one of my favorite markets to report, because news are always good, and December was no exception, with 309 PEV's registered, up 107% regarding the same month last year, with the PEV Share ending 2017 at a record 2.6%.

The 3.055 units sold in 2017 represent a 113% YoY progression this year is even more impressive, considering the overall stagnating local auto market.

In a traditionally PHEV-friendly market (83% share), BEVs are growing faster (+123%) than plug-in hybrids, which is a good sign for the upcoming long range BEVs, scheduled to arrive next year.

Looking at the models ranking, the Mercedes GLC350e was the undisputed leader in 2017, with 494 units, a new record and double the units of the runner-up VW Passat GTE, giving Mercedes its first title in this market.

Landing only on the second half of the year, and yet giving it enough time to reach a podium position, the Volvo XC60 PHEV was an instant success, being the Best Seller in the last three months of the year, which could mean the Merc GLC350e will have a hard to time to resist it in 2018...

Underlining Volvo's upwards trend, in December it wasn't only the XC60 PHEV to shine, as the S90 and V90 PHEV twins also impressed, delivering 38 units last month (New pb) and climbing to #9 in the YTD ranking.

In the manufacturers ranking, there was a last minute change, with the 2016 winner BMW (20%) reaching the top in the last month of the year, relegating Mercedes (19%, down 1%) to Second, while Volvo (16%, up 1%) ended in Third

  1. Wish you would separate PHEV from BEV

    1. BEVs have a different color, in order to separate them from PHEVs.
